Krzysztof Kamil Baczyński High School No. 2
| 2019 |
Students of Krzysztof Kamil Baczyński High School No.2 in Konin opted for an unconventional approach to preparing a Jewish walking tour. Aside from traditional sightseeing, they also launched a dedicated website with location-based tasks to complete for anyone wishing to do the tour on their own. Anyone interested in exploring Jewish Konin from the comfort of their own home has access to tons of information, photographs and films created by School of Dialogue participants. In their work, students partnered with various institutions, including the Institute of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Poznań, where a series of presentations on Judaism and history of Polish Jews were held especially for project participants.
On their website and in the course of their tour, students shared interesting tidbits on Jewish culture and gave an overview of Konin’s most important Jewish heritage sites, including the former Jewish school and the synagogue that had housed a library for many years after the war, but since 2005 has been abandoned and inaccessible. They also described most important Jewish holidays and talked about the former Garncarski Market and its fishmonger Bim Bom.
