Teaching about the Past to Ensure
    a Better Future

School of Dialogue participants from Wojciech Korfanty Technical High School Complex No. 1 in Chorzów, winners of the 2016 School of Dialogue competition for the best commemorative project, visited Warsaw to claim their prize: a  study visit. Their incredibly packed program included sightseeing of Warsaw’s right bank with its bohemian Praga district and Bródno Jewish cemetery, taking the tour of Warsaw’s Ghetto tracing places important for Janusz Korczak, paying a visit to JCC Warszawa and meeting with Rabbi Stas Wojciechowicz of the Ec Chaim Synagogue. The students also had an opportunity to visit the Treblinka museum. Later that evening they participated in the evening of celebrations of Rosh Hashanah at the Nożyk Synagogue.

Recently, the School of Dialogue students from Chorzów received some amazing news. This January they had petitioned the Chorzów’s city hall to commemorate the synagogue destroyed during the war. They asked for creating a model of the former synagogue with information in Polish, English, German and in Braille – and the city hall responded positively!
