Pułtusk

Tadeusz Kościuszko Public Primary Integration School No. 3

Although Pułtusk boasts a rich Jewish history, not much material remains testify to it: a small section of the Jewish cemetery and a monument to Holocaust victims are the only Jewish-related sites. Students from the highest grades of Thaddeus Kościuszko Inclusive Elementary School no.3 organized a dedicated educational walk meant to honor the Pułtusk’s Jewish residents. During the tour, held on June 17, 2019, participants explored the town and heard stories about the Jewish cemetery, the synagogue, the old tenement houses and the bridge used by Jews to evacuate from the impending Nazi army.

Tour organizers also mentioned celebrities whose families had been part of Pułtusk’s prewar Jewish community. The tour presented participants with various challenges and games. Its final stop was the memorial to the town’s Jewish residents. Worth mentioning here is that students contributed from the expertise of a local Leader of Dialogue while working on their project.
