The group participating in the School of Dialogue program in Wałbrzych consisted of students from two schools: the Maksymilian Tytus Huber School Complex no. 5 (technical secondary school of automotive engineering) and the Technical School Complex “Energetyk”. They prepared a walking tour of Jewish sites, which took place on June 11, 2018. A group of first grade high school students participated in the event; under the watchful eye of their School of Dialogue guides, they learned about the history of the Jewish residents of their town at nine stops. The students also prepared special maps and guidebooks for the trip participants, and – together with the local branch of the Social and Cultural Association of Jews in Poland – refreshments.

The event was accompanied by maintenance works at the Jewish cemetery in Wałbrzych: cutting grass and removing old leaves. The students also created an online map, on which they marked the location of places important to the Jewish community, each with a description of its history. Moreover, the project participants requested the town authorities to commemorate those places with plaques informing about the history of each building. They also planned further events addressed to larger audiences.
