Fall 2013 marked the beginning of my adventure with searching and recovering matzevot that had been stolen from the Jewish cemetery in Radoszyce to be used as construction material or as pavement stones, stairs and tiles. I would also find Jewish headstones in the fields and in abandoned homes and farmhouses. I would uncover matzevot at the cemetery, but hidden off under branches, bushes, overgrown with moss or forest bed. I clean the recovered stellas and place them back at the cemetery. I also try to translate them and copy personal information to give the dead back their names and dignity. I managed to recover over a dozen whole headstones and many fragments from which I was able to decipher information about a few dozen people. You can read more about my work at the website.
