Łukasz Parus - Leader of Dialogue in Zagórów

On September 13, 2012, the Municipal Community Center in Zagórów hosted a conference about the town’s Jewish community that had been organized by the  Zagórów Area Appreciation Society. Conference program included lectures by: Barbara Wieczorek from the Foundation for Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland (“Jewish Life in a Pre-War Shtetl”); president of the Jewish Community of Poznań Alicja Kobus (“Jewish Holidays and Rituals”); dr Mirosław Słowiński, author of the book Two Lives Like Two Psalms: Oral History of Leon and Tosha Jedwab; Chairman of Friends of Zagórów Area Society Jarosław Buziak (“History of the Ghetto in Zagórow”) and Łukasz Parus (“Jews of Zagórów”). 

Performances of klezmer music by Shalom group and Quarta Men’s Chamber Choir; public broadcast of Leon Jedwab’s speeches and a photography exhibition entitled “Survivors – Life-stories of Runia Lisak-Levi from Słupca and Leon Jedwab from Zagórów (lent for the occasion from Słupca’s Regional Museum) and a tasting of baked goods (including challah bread) from a local bakery.
