The idea to create the monument was born within the community of former inhabitants of the city and their descendants, associated in the Irgun of Jews from Tomaszów Mazowiecki in Israel. The monument was erected at Andersa street – on the grounds of the historical Jewish district.
The Porta Memoria Foundation undertook the task to collect the necessary financial means and to conduct procedures connected with the erection of the monument. The unveiling ceremony took place on July 3rd, 2016 and included unveiling a mural entitled „Multicultural Tomaszów”.
