The project centers around the publication of an academic text on the Jewish cemetery in Jasło, the only material remnant of the former Jeiwsh community of the town. This is a continuation of the Foundation’s previous activities including the preparation of an inventory and an archive of the cemetery. The publication will feature a complete history and a list and map of all the tombstones. The biographies of the Jews of Jasło discovered in the process of documenting the tombstones will become the basis for a program popularizing local Jewish history. The work will be distributed among local institutions, such as the municipality, library, museum, and school, and promoted in the local media.
The Foundation’s contacts with descendants of Jasło Jews ensure distribution abroad, thanks to which more people will be able to seek out the resting places of their relatives. Together with a local educator workshop materials will be designed and a pilot workshop conducted with the local youth and with the participation of the descendants.
Project financed by the Ledor Wador Foundation.
