As the Mayor of Orla, Marek Chmielewski funded the Memorial for Orla Jews. He is currently working in an exhibition depicting the life and history of the Orla Jeiwsh community based on extensive archival materials to be presented at the historic synagogue building in Orla. He is also organizing a conference the aim of which is to create a plan for the restoration and preservation of that historic synagogue, which will be later overseen by a local non-profit.
He plans to use the funds to buy computer equipment and programs necessary to successfully continue with his Jewish commemoration projects in Orla.
