Born in 1972 in Toruń, Dariusz Mielcarek is a music school graduate, historian and entrepreneur, and a survivor of a lingering case of thyroid cancer. After returning to Kuyavia, he committed himself to social work. A member of many associations—PTH, TPPW, TMMI, and WTG GNIAZDO—he has arranged a number of social activities, from the marking of the graves of Greater Poland Uprising insurgents to the erection of a monument dedicated to the farmer Piotr Bartoszcze, murdered in 1984. Dariusz initiated the excavation of over 3,000 matzevot in Inowrocław, as well as the construction of a lapidary. A promoter of knowledge on the Jewish culture in Inowrocław, he has formed a group of collaborators dedicated to the preservation of the Jewish cultural heritage in the city. He has helped reconstruct the history of the Grinspan family and recover the identity of Yoram Grinspan.
