In February 2017, in the village of Wisy near Radoszyce, I learned that one of the properties was host to tombstones from the Jewish cemetery. The house with the adjacent plot of land was purchased in the 1950s and the slabs were already there back then. With the owner’s permission, I proceeded to excavate them. The matzevot were used as a retaining wall for the composter.

From this rough terrain I excavated several slabs in whole and a few large matzevot fragments. I cleaned the tombstones and notified the caretaker of the Jewish cemetery in Radoszyce, Krzysztof Kos, who transported them to the Jewish cemetery.
