Paweł Sawicki is a trained computer scientist and father of 4 children. He works in a state-run institution. He has been working with the youth for 40 years. For the past dozen years he and his wife have devoted all their spare time to identifying the Jews who perished during the Holocaust, primarily in the Treblinka death camp. In collaboration with the Memory of Treblinka Foundation, they have created a Book of Names, which contains the personal details of the people who perished in the camp. The data base is comprised of names, ages, addresses, occupations, as well as more detailed information concerning the lives of the respective victims. Where possible, family connections are displayed to commemorate entire families and symbolically reunite those dramatically separated. Every last Saturday of the month, Paweł reads new Names of the victims of Treblinka. He is also working on similar commemorations in other places, including Jedwabne, Bzury, and Poniatowa.
