Andrzej Kirmiel (born 1958) is a historian, graduate of the Jagiellonian University (1987) and Pedagogical Academy in Cracow (2005). From 1987 to 2009, he worked as a history teacher in high schools in Skwierzyna and Zielona Góra. He is the founder and chairman of the Lubuska Fundacja Judaica foundation (2006-2011). In 2010, he was appointed director of the Alf Kowalski Museum of Międzyrzecz Land in Międzyrzecz. Andrzej is the author of numerous articles and publications on the history of the region, as well as on Polish-German-Jewish relations. He has commemorated (in the form of plaques and obelisks) the presence of Jews in the western part of Greater Poland and the city of Zielona Góra. He is also the organizer of numerous seminars and conferences, including the Jewish Culture Days in Zielona Góra, held annually between 2006 and 2011.
