In May 2017, in the vicinity of the Jewish cemetery in Zarnów, in an overgrown abandoned yard containing the remains of a former building used for disposal of fallen animals, I came across a fence wall, where I noticed damaged matzevot fragments. I extracted about thirty fragments from the wall, assembling them into six slabs.

I notified the head of the Żarnów municipality, Mr. Krzysztof Nawrocki, of the fact. After his intervention, the wall was dismantled, with about one hundred and fifty more fragments of shattered tombstones were extracted. All the excavated matzevot fragments were deposited at the Jewish cemetery in Żarnów.
