Agata Radkowska-Parka from Lublin together with the “Well of Memory” Association is currently working on a project entitled “Remembering the Jews of Siedliszcze” co-financed by a grant awarded by the Forum for Dialogue. In mid-July, Agata organized Days of Jewish Culture, which included clean up works at the local Jewish cemetery. The event had a great turnout of very engaged participants.

In just two days, the volunteers worked to clear up the area of the cemetery where a new commemorative statue will be unveiled soon. Apart from the clean up works, the festival also featured an Israeli dance workshop for all, and a performance by Symcha Keller, a Rabbi and Cantor working to revive Jewish life in Poland.

The audience of the concert were transported into a world of Jewish music: traditional melodies, niguns and Chassidic songs. Shoshana Keller organized culinary workshops that included discussions of traditional Jewish dishes and cooking of delicacies from both the Ashkenazi and Sephardic cookbooks. In addition to all that, there was a panel discussion on Judaism, and a workshop on tombstone symbolism combined with practical application in cleaning the headstones at the local Jewish cemetery.

The Leaders of Dialogue program is co-financed by Friends of the Forum, Ledor Wador Foundation and Forum for Dialogue’s private and institutional supporters in Poland.
