Czarny Dunajec

Grants and scholarships for Leaders of Dialogue

Michał Szaflarski plans to create an online archive of photos, testimonies, documents, and letters documenting the life of Jews from Czarny Dunajec. He has been collecting materials and information about Jewish families from Czarny Dunajec for years, and has decided to make this valuable resource available online. The archive will grow thanks to new materials submitted by descendants of Jews and residents of Czarny Dunajec.

It is also intended to serve as means of introducing descendants of Jews from the region to the activities done on the grown in the hopes of forming new connections. At the local level, the sharing of knowledge about Jewish life before the war and the Holocaust, including the fact that most of Czarny Dunajec Jews were killed in the Bełżec, will increase the involvement of local residents in activities commemorating this community.

In 2023, the Leaders of Dialogue program, including grants and scholarships, is financed thanks to the generosity of Friends of the Forum, LEDOR WADOR Foundation, United States Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad and individual donors and institutions from Poland and abroad supporting Forum for Dialogue. Scholarships for personal development are possible thanks to The David and Anna Dlugie Kliger Scholarship Fund.
