Dariusz Walerjański - Leader of Dialogue in Zabrze

In cooperation with Gliwice’s House of Remembrance, I host my own meeting series entitled “Roads and Roots  – People in the Face of Tradition” that is dedicated to individuals who protect, renew and promote the heritage of European Jews that had been destroyed in the Holocaust; people who restore the memory of their towns’ former residents through their activism, who work towards tolerance and understanding among nations and who preserve invaluable heritage sites in Poland.

I have hosted meetings with activists, teachers, museum employees and culture representatives from all over Poland who find it important to uncover and reclaim the Jewish sites and history that had been forgotten for years. In BramaCukiermana Foundation, I work as an educator and raise public awareness through developing the audioguide “Stories of the Absent”, which aims to describe through words and sounds the sites connected to Jewish communities in 11 selected towns of Silesian voivodeship.
