Ireneusz Socha became involved in Polish/Jewish dialogue and commemorating the Dębica’s Jewish heritage in the 1980s, when he focused his activism on saving the town’s Jewish cemetery.
Being a great aficionado of music he has been composing pieces of music inspired by Jewish culture. His albums met with critical acclaim in Poland and abroad. In 2017, he was recognized for his activism by POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews and received an honorable mention during the POLIN Award gala.
