Ewa Tależyńska-Sawicka is a polonist and mother of 4 children. She works as a state institution official. For more than 10 years and counting, Ewa and her husband have devoted all their spare time to commemorating and listing the names of the Jews who perished during the Holocaust, primarily in the Treblinka death camp. At the Memory of Treblinka Foundation, Ewa is a contributor to the Book of Names, a database of people who perished in the camp. The data base contains entries from all possible sources. Not only names, ages, addresses and occupations of the respective victims are collected but also more detailed information about their lives. Where possible, family connections are displayed so that entire families can be remembered. Once a month, new Names are read at Treblinka. Ewa is also working on similar commemorations in other places, including Jedwabne, Trawniki, and Poniatowa.
