Dębica
Ireneusz Socha is a musician who has been organizing commemorations of Dębica Jewish community since 2016. The scholarship awarded to Ireneusz by the Forum for Dialogue will allow him to organize a concert by an American violinist, Yaron Klein, who is a great-grandson of Dębica’s Grünspan. The performance is planned for the eve of the official 2023 Dębica Jewish Community Remembrance Day.
The concert’s audience will consist mainly of Dębica residents and guests from other cities and countries, including descendants of Dębica Jews from Israel and the USA. The concert will be an opportunity to maintain interest in Jewish culture among participants of previous events organized by Ireneusz and encourage new audiences to deepen their knowledge of Jews and their culture.
In 2023, the Leaders of Dialogue program, including grants and scholarships, is financed thanks to the generosity of Friends of the Forum, LEDOR WADOR Foundation, United States Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad and individual donors and institutions from Poland and abroad supporting Forum for Dialogue. Scholarships for personal development are possible thanks to The David and Anna Dlugie Kliger Scholarship Fund.
