In 2019, we took the initiative by writing a petition to the town authorities and collecting more than a hundred signatures of residents supporting the appeal. After that, we took a vote on the best location: the market square won. Stefania and Józef Wacławik from Mszana Dolna rescued Moshe Jered from the Holocaust by sheltering him for almost three years in their home. Despite having been honored by the Yad Vashem Institute, they were completely unknown in their town – we decided to change that. In 2020, a Remembrance Oak with a special stone plaque informing about the Righteous was planted near the market square in Mszana Dolna.

The ceremony was attended by the town authorities and residents, and the plaque was unveiled by the Wacławik’s youngest daughter with her grandchildren. Groups of school youth visit the site, and workshops for students and residents of the town about the Rescuers in 2021 were conducted.
