The need for the project stemmed from the necessity to record and put to effective use memories of Szczebrzeszyn’s oldest residents which present the reality of local Jewish community before, during and after World War 2. The project addressed the meager documentation of local history and its almost complete absence in the teaching process. Between September and October 2014, 6 oldest residents of Szczebrzeszyn were interviewed and 6 different lesson scenarios were created with the use of acquired information. Lessons based on these scenarios were taught in three grades of Polish Olimpic Athletes Middle School in Szczebrzeszyn.
The final project outcome was a minicompetition for student projects that would pertain to Jewish history in Szczebrzeszyn and an app that contained stories told by the interviewees, lesson scenarios to be used in school curriculum and a description of all project activities.
