As in previous years, on the anniversary of the Dębica Ghetto liquidation this July 21, Ireneusz Socha organized the Memorial Day for Jews of Dębica. The ceremony took place at the site of a brutal selection conducted by the German soldiers before the deportation. The commemorative event, attended by local residents and guests from out of town paid homage to the 12 000 Jews from the Dębica region, and the 2000 Jewish residents of Dębica who were imprisoned in the local ghetto and later transported to the Bełżec death camp. Another 600 Jews from the Dębica ghetto were killed in a nearby Wolica forest. Others still were murdered at the deportation site, ghetto streets, and the Jewish cemetery.
Complimentary to the commemorative ceremony was a talk by Patrycja Pogoda about the role of the synagogue in the liufe of the Jewish community and a performance by Bartłomiej Prucnal playing Jewish music-inspired saxophone pieces.
On the same day, the Mayor of Dębica organized a commemorative ceremony at the Wolica forest memorial. Attended by representatives of local authorities, as well as invited guests including Ireneusz Socha, as well as Tadeusz Jakubowicz, Tomasz Grebner and Adam Klimak from the Krakow Jewish community.
