Narcyz Listkowski - Leader of Dialogue in Rabka Zdrój

Since 2015, on the last day of August, the anniversary of deportations of local Jews to immediate death in Bełżec, we organize a commemorative walk. This way, with the team behind Rabka’s history website (www.historiarabki.blogspot.com), we pay our respects to the murdered residents of our town. In the course of the walk, we provide an overview of Rabka’s prewar Jewish history, presenting stories of different individuals and the dramatic period of the town’s German occupation.

We talk about the deportation that happened on August 30, 1942. The walk begins in front of Rabka’s amphitheater and ends with ceremonial candle-lighting and wreath-placing on the graves of the Jews murdered in a grove behind Tereska mansion. Through these actions, some town residents learn about a history they often had known nothing about. For the past two years we have contributed to commemorating the fates of our prewar neighbors, paying respects and honoring their memory.
