Tarnowskie Góry

Grants and scholarships for Leaders of Dialogue

There is currently no permanent commemoration of the Jewish community in Tarnowskie Góry, where Anna Włodek and the Gliwicka 66 Association are active. Their project aims to remedy that and involves the installation of a commemorative tombstone monument. The monument, listing the names and ages of the victims, will commemorate the Jews of Tarnowskie Góry murdered in the Holocaust and will be located at the site of the Jewish cemetery.

The official unveiling of the monument is planned for the fall of 2023, and will be accompanied by a series of open talks on the history of the Holocaust in Upper Silesia. These talks will be open to the public. The most important part of the ceremony, however, will be the reading of the names and ages of those commemorated by the residents of Tarnowskie Góry.

In 2023, the Leaders of Dialogue program, including grants and scholarships, is financed thanks to the generosity of Friends of the Forum, LEDOR WADOR Foundation, United States Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad and individual donors and institutions from Poland and abroad supporting Forum for Dialogue. Scholarships for personal development are possible thanks to The David and Anna Dlugie Kliger Scholarship Fund.
