Narcyz Listkowski, a Leader of Dialogue from Rabka-Zdrój, was awarded by the Jerzy Boniecki PolCul Foundation for his efforts to “find, secure, and restore the traces of Jewish presence in Rabka-Zdrój, as well as to commemorate the wartime fates of Rabka’s Jews.” PolCul Foundation recognized his efforts to preserve the site of the former synagogue, place a memorial plaque marking its location, and organize annual memorial marches on the anniversary of the deportations of Rabka’s Jews to Bełżec death camp.
Founded in 1980 in Sydney Australia, The Jerzy Boniecki PolCul Foundation has been awarding individuals contributing to the development of civil society in Poland twice a year. This past spring, it recognized another Leader of Dialogue, Urszula Antosz-Rekucka from Mszana Dolna. She was awarded for her endeavors to promote “pluralism and tolerance towards ethnic and religious minorities, notably her longtime work to salvage the memory of Jewish residents of Mszana Dolna, her initiatives benefitting people with disabilities, refugee solidarity actions, and organizing humanitarian aid for Ukraine and African countries.”
