Katarzyna Winiarska - Leader of Dialogue in Białowieża

A theatrical performance by children and teenagers from Białowieża, which brings back the memory of the forgotten Jewish community that used to live here before the war, just next door to other families: Belarusian and Polish, Catholic and Orthodox. These stories, for many years stored in the recollections of the oldest residents of the present day Białowieża, have now been discovered, recorded and written down by Katarzyna Winiarska, the creator of the Virtual Museum. The testimonies were adapted as a script by an actor and director Joanna Troc, who also directed the performance. The music was prepared by Elżbieta Rojek, also an actress and a director. The play premiered in 2017 at the Teremiski Theatre near Białowieża. It has been performed in Białowieża, Białystok, at the Orla and Sejny synagogues, in Bielsk Podlaski, at Fabryka Sztuki in Łódź and twice in Warsaw – at the Centre for Contemporary Art and at the POLIN Museum.
