Grant for Establishing Relations

The project led by Anita Rucioch-Gołek, involving students of Arkady Fiedler Primary School in Zbąszyń, will use the grant funds in order to preserve the memory of Jewish history and culture in Zbąszyń. The project will focus on the history of four Jewish families from Zbąszyń: the Grunberg, Wajman and Mannheim families and the Grzybowski family. Before the war, members of these families had stores and workshops in Zbąszyń. Students, guided by their teacher, will make a stop-motion animated film about Zbąszyń before the outbreak of World War II.

The film will tell the story of four Jewish families and their life inpre-war Zbąszyń. The first public screening of the film will be held with the presence of the descendents these families, who currently live in Great Britain. This will allow for strengthening the relationship already established through previous activities carried out by Anita Rucioch-Gołek. The workshop and the public screening will coincide with the initiative of placing the Stolpersteine – memorial blocks dedicated to these four Jewish families living in Zbąszyń before the war.
