One of the projects co-financed by the Forum is the “Uprooted/Grounded” (“Wykorzenieni/Ukorzenieni”) project by the Grybów Saga association, founded by Kamil Kmak, member of the Leaders of Dialogue network. The project aims to introduce Grybów residents with art created by descendants of Grybów Holocaust Survivors. The exhibition, opening on June 18 at the Artur Grottger High School in Grybów, is part of this endeavor. The open-air exhibition will be open to visitors at the City Park in Grybów. The event will be accompanied by history lessons, art workshops, and conversations on roots and uprooting. One of the workshops will be conducted by Leela Corman, granddaughter of Mendel Lipczer, a Holocaust Survivor from Grybów, whose comic book You Are Not a Guest will be shown at the exhibition.

The comic, which was created for Tablet Magazine (published in 2021), addresses Leela Corman’s visit to Poland, during which she took part in the unveiling of a monument commemorating 1,770 Jews from the Grybów ghetto. The commemoration was organized by Kamil Kmak and Dariusz Popiela as part of the “People, not numbers – Grybów” project. In the comic, the author expresses her feelings related to her visit to her grandfather’s town, the ceremony itself, Polish cuisine, and the landscape. You may read the comic here.

The Leaders of Dialogue program, including grants and scholarships, was financed thanks to the generosity of Friends of the Forum, Ledor Wador Foundation, and individual donors and institutions from Poland and abroad supporting Forum for Dialogue. Scholarships for personal development are possible thanks to The David and Anna Dlugie Kliger Scholarship Fund.
